Jeevan Xavier
Bangalore, India
Jeevan Xavier, 46, is a designer and founder of JLX Studio, based in Bengaluru since 2006. His work engages with artists, communities, and everyday practices through research-driven initiatives like the Everyday Design Archive (EDA), exploring design as a lived and shared experience. He has been living in Bangalore for the past 20 years. He moved here when he was 26 and lives with his extended family.
“I had a wonderful moment in a bus once… a random conversation with an unknown fellow passenger, but that was my Buddha moment – how I look at things changed forever."
Jeevan takes the airport bus as it is slightly higher and more
elevated than other city buses. This gives him a beautiful view of Hebbal Lake and other parks and green patches on the way to the airport. Bangalore is known for its traffic, and these views make him feel more peaceful.
Bangalore is also known for its lakes and gardens, but many of them are rapidly disappearing due to fast development. At least this
journey offers him glimpses of the remaining parks and lakes along the way. He also recalls a life-changing experience during one of his rides.
