Why are we proud to be a partner
UIC is proud to be a partner of World Public Transport Day, as it fully aligns with our mission to promote rail as the backbone of sustainable mobility worldwide.
As the global organisation representing the railway sector, UIC works with its members and partners to advance a more integrated, efficient and low-carbon transport system. Public transport, and particularly rail, plays a vital role in addressing today’s major challenges, including climate change, urbanisation, and the need for inclusive and accessible mobility.
By joining World Public Transport Day, UIC aims to highlight the essential contribution of rail to the decarbonisation of transport systems and to reinforce collaboration across all modes of public transport. Strengthening multimodality and encouraging a shift towards more sustainable mobility solutions are at the core of our strategy.
This partnership also reflects our long-standing engagement in international advocacy, including our active participation in global climate discussions, where we promote the role of rail as a key enabler of a greener future.
Together with UITP and partners worldwide, we are proud to contribute to a global movement that raises awareness of the value of public transport and inspires collective action towards more sustainable mobility.
“Rail is a cornerstone of sustainable mobility and a key solution to achieving global climate objectives. World Public Transport Day is an important opportunity to highlight the collective role of public transport in building more resilient, inclusive and low-carbon societies. UIC is proud to stand alongside UITP and partners worldwide to promote a shared vision for the future of mobility.”
How we're celebrating with our community
On World Public Transport Day, UIC will mobilise its global network of members and partners to amplify the visibility of rail and its contribution to sustainable mobility.
We will support the initiative through dedicated communication actions across our digital platforms, including social media and our website, highlighting key messages on the role of rail in decarbonisation and integrated transport systems. We will also encourage our members to engage in the campaign and share their own initiatives and success stories.
In addition, UIC will leverage its international reach to promote best practices, foster dialogue between stakeholders, and reinforce the importance of collaboration between all public transport actors.
